The Summer Soulstice Music Festival, Milwaukee’s official celebration of the summer solstice is set to return on Saturday, June 18. The East Side Business Improvement District, a partner in the city’s efforts to develop and support strong business on the East Side of Milwaukee, announced they will be holding the festival for the first time since 2019.

In addition to the exciting return, this year will mark the 20th anniversary of the Summer Soulstice Music Festival. The festival began in 2001, but due to the event’s cancelation in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic, the festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year.

According to the East Side’s Executive Director David Smulyan, the festival will continue to offer free music, a selection of food vendors, arts, crafts and activities for participants to enjoy.

Previously, the event hosted three music stages and activities along North Avenue and other side streets. Smulyan says that for the big return the BID Board of Directors want to include one large musical stage accompanied by a few smaller music venues. The smaller venues are planned to take place inside of Black Cat Alley and close to one of the three entrances to the Oak Leaf Trail.
